The Carolina Emperor

Do you remember back in April when we featured Catherine the Great’s 60-70 carat Emerald brooch? Well it now has some competition as the biggest emerald thanks to the Carolina Emperor. The Carolina Emperor was pulled from a pit on a farm in Hiddenite, North Carolina. The 65-carat emerald was cut and re-cut and is now slightly larger than a quarter with the weight of a AA battery. It is said to the largest emerald ever to be found in North America and it is a true beauty.

John Hardy has chosen a new face for it’s fall advertising campaign. Model Angela Lindvall can be found gracing advertisements dripping in John Hardy. Along with being the new face of the brand, Lindvall, an avid environmentalist is working with John Hardy to create a new eco-friendly jewelry collection. The collection, entitled “Hijau”, means “green” in Indonesian. Inspiration for the line stems from the look of bamboo, which the brand is known for. Pieces in the collection will include bangles, cuffs and earrings shaped from long pieces of sterling silver bamboo sticks stacked side-by-side. They will also feature black sapphires and white topaz. Keep your eyes open for the eco-friendly, bamboo-inspired collection by muse Lindvall and John Hardy!
